Strathcona County

Next Event September 24, 2022

The Alberta Food Drive has been conducting a door to door food drive in Sherwood Park every year since 2011.  From our first year’s efforts of 11,314 kilograms of food being gathered, the food drive has grown to nearly 20,000 kilograms of non-perishable food collected last year for the Strathcona County Food Bank.

We ask that those wishing to donate, please bag or box their donations and place them on their doorstep before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday Sept 24. We ask you to please make sure that the bags are visible from the street, and contain only non-perishable food items. (No cash, cheques, or garden produce please.)   Those wishing to make a monetary donation can do so by e-transfer to strathconafoodbanktreasurer@gmail.com

The collectors, local members of community, will drive the streets of Sherwood Park, the morning of September 24th to pick up food left on your doorstep. Collections will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until every street has been canvassed.

Our volunteers try our hardest to get back to all the houses where we delivered bags – but if no one has picked up your donation bag by 1:30 that afternoon, you can drop it off at any major grocery store over the next few days.

If you live in an apartment, condo, or townhouse and you want to participate – please bring a food donation to a grocery store or any firehall.

This is a 100 percent volunteer effort, but it all comes down to your generosity. Thank you so much!
